Qigong

What we practise

Qigong techniques practised in a group

We practise exercises of many kinds: from stretching techniques (LaJin) to deep Qi exercises, from Paida (a kind of self-massage) to meditation, from principles of traditional wisdom to Qigong techniques you can do during daily life. Every practice is unique, a mix of techniques adapted to the practitioners and to the weather, the environment and the time.

Generally, the practice I lead consists of three parts.

Part 1

Stretching

Making meridians and muscles long and open.

The first part is dedicated to stretching, making meridians and muscles long and open. This is essential — no qi can flow in stiff muscles, tense tendons and closed meridians. So the techniques for warming up the body and making it flexible are very important. They are not only preparation for the practice; they are already a real practice. Consider, for example, the millennial tradition of yoga, which gives so much importance to stretching and opening the body.

Part 2

Qigong

Collecting the Qi, handling it, making it grow and refining it.

The second part is dedicated to "typical" Qigong exercises — collecting the Qi, handling it, making it grow and refining it. We perform classical series such as the Brocades and Yi Jin Jing, and other classical or more recent techniques. Prepared by the stretching of the tendons (La Jin), the body is now able to feel the energy and to "play" with it. Exercises range from easy to a little more physically demanding. They are done in an atmosphere of concentration and sensitivity, providing a deep inner and outer balance and the development of Qi — a real, deep sense of pleasure, an experience of raising our frequencies to a higher range.

Part 3

Paida

Patting the body to boost energy and free the meridians.

The third part is Paida. Slapping or patting the body with our own fingers, fists and knuckles gives an incredible boost of energy, enhancing the physical efficiency of the body and the clarity of the mind. Paida also works on an emotional level, by freeing the meridians, which are all connected to specific emotions, traumas and aspects of the personality. Stimulating the body in this way brings real regeneration and rejuvenation to the practitioner.
